The Courtyard of Honour and the San Pietro Loggia
The courtyard of honour is accessed via a bridge over a large moat. The bridge is now fixed; however, until the 19th century, it was used as drawbridge, as the castle‘s last line of defence in an attack. The great dark bronze door opens up to reveal a white, light filled courtyard surmounted by the porticoes and walkways which have replaced the ancient openings to the castle battlements.
The courtyard of honour is an enchanted place for summer receptions and wedding parties. On warm evenings this space is ideal for drinks or for whole receptions and more. By night the courtyard is transformed into a starlit dance floor for partying until dawn.
In the flickering light of torches and romantic moonlight, it can hold up to 500 guests.
